(a) Define complex permanent tissue.
(b) Name the conductive tissues?
(c) Write the components of xylem and phloem.
(a) Complex permanent tissues are made of more than one type of cells. All these cells coordinate to perform a common function.
(b) Xylem and Phloem are the conductive tissues. They both together constitute a vascular bundle. Xylem helps in the conduction of water and minerals from roots and phloem helps in conduction of food from leaves to all the other parts of plant.
(c) Components of Xylem: tracheids
Vessels
Xylem parenchyma
Xylem fibres
Components of Phloem: sieve cells
Sieve tubes
Companion cells
Phloem fibres
Phloem parenchyma
