The primary dentition consists of a set of temporary teeth which is also called as the milk teeth or the deciduous teeth. It is 20 in number and seen in children. The dental formula is 2,1,0,2/2,1,0,2 where two incisors, one canine, zero premolars and two molars are present in each quadrant. This is replaced by the permanent dentition in adults whose dental formula is 2,1,2,3/2,1,2,3.
