Solution

The correct option is C

0.25

WKT, μ = q × d where μ = dipole moment

q = charge

d = distance

μ = 1.2 D

d = 1.0 Å

q = 1.2 D1.0 0A = 1.2 × 10181.0 × 108 = 1.2 × 1010 esu

since proton (+1) and electron (-1) have a dipole moment of 4.8 D when separated by 100 pm distance,

fraction of electronic charge = 1.2 × 10104.8 × 1010=0.25
