Solution

The correct option is D a rectifier
A diode allows enough current when forward biased and negligible current
when reverse biased.

In an AC signal current flows in both the directions in a time Inteval,
When a diode is kept in the circuit,
It allows only when the current passss such that the diode is forward
biased and block current when current passss such that the diode is
reverse biased.

In this way AC signal of bidirectional current is converted to DC signal if unidirectional current flow.

Hence diode works as a rectifier.

Option D is the correct answer.
