Calculation of number of DNA molecules: as per question the somatic cell has 42 chromosomes. In a cell at rest number of chromosome is equal to number of chromosomes. In G2 phase DNA replication occur so the number of DNA becomes 84. Which remains constant till anaphase of mitosis after cytokinesis it is restored to 42.
