A dishonest shopkeeper professes to sell pulses at his cost price but uses a false weight of 950 for each kilogram. Find his gain percent.

Let C.P of 1 kg of pulses = Rs. 100
\therefore S.P of 950 gm = Rs. 100
and S.P of 1 kg or 1000 gm $=Rs.\frac{100\times 1000}{950}$
$=Rs.\frac{2000}{19}$
Gain = S.P - C.P
$=Rs.\frac{2000}{19}-Rs.100=Rs.\frac{2000-1900}{19}=Rs.\frac{100}{19}Gain\%=\frac{100}{19}\times \frac{100}{100}=\frac{100}{19}\%=5\frac{5}{19}\%$
