Dear student,
If the stomach is not releasing the hydrochloric acid in adequate amount than protein digestion in the stomach would be affected and the bacterial overgrowth will occur in the stomach because hydrochloric acid kills the bacteria present in the food and also plays an important role in activation of an enzyme pepsin to digest proteins.
