A dolphin uses echolocation to find fish. the fish are 22.5m away.
a) how far must the sound travel for the dolphin to detect the echo?
b) what is the speed of sound in water if it is 0.03s between the dolphin emitting and receiving the sound wave?

Dear student,
a) For an echo to be heard, the object must be atleast 17 m away from source.
b) In case of eco, speed of sound = (2*distance)/time
here, distance = 22.5 m
time = 0.03s
speed = (2* 22.5)/0.03
= 45.0/0.03 = 1500 m/sec
