Question

A domain in a magnet is in the form of a cube of side length 1 μm. If it contains 8×1010 atoms and each atomic dipole has a dipole moment of 9×1024A-m2 and all of this dipoles are aligned in the same direction, then the magnetisation of the domain is:

Solution

We know that magnetisation is given by,

I=Mnetvolume

Here,

Mnet=8×1010×9×1024 A-m2

Mnet=72×1014 A-m2

Volume of the cube,

V=(106)3=1018 m3

I=72×10141018=7.2×105 Am1

Hence, option (A) is the correct answer.
