Solution
A driver uses a convex mirror as a rear view mirror mainly due to two reasons:
1. It diverges the incident light rays and always forms a small and erect image between its pole and focus.
2. Field of view of a convex mirror is wider than that of a plane mirror or concave mirror. A convex mirror diverges the incident light rays and always forms a small and erect image between its pole and focus. That’s why it can be used as a rear view mirror by a driver to see all the traffic behind him approaching the mirror.
