A drum brake is shown in the figure. The drum is rotating in an anticlockwise direction. The coefficient of friction between drum and shoe is 0.2. The dimensions shown in the figure are in mm. The braking torque (in Nm) for the brake shoe is

The correct option is A 64

Taking Mo=0

1000×800=Ft×100+RN×480

8000=Ff+4.8RN

Ff=μRN=0.2RN

0.2RN+4.8RN=8000

or RN=80005=1600 N

Ff=μRN=0.2×1600

=320 N

Braking torque,

T=Ff×r=320×0.2=64 Nm
