He moves $5$ steps forward and $3$ steps backward in $8$ sec. After that he is $2\text{m}$ away from an initial position
$x=5-3=2\text{m}$ in $8\text{s}$.
After $24\text{s}$ he will be $6\text{m}$ away from initial position.
He moves further $5\text{m}$ forward then he falls in a pit which is $11\text{m}$ away from the initial position.
$\Rightarrow$Total time, $T=24+5=29\text{s}$.
Hence the option $b$ is correct
