A Drying agent used for drying $H C l$ is Conc. $H_{2} S O_{4}$ (Sulphuric Acid).
Conc. $H_{2} S O_{4}$ is used in drying & Dehydrating agents due to its strong affinity for water and hence absorbs water very quickly.
It is not used in drying $H$ because Conc sulpuric acid on absorbing water forms so much heat that $H$ actually catches fire.
For purifying $H$ gases sulphuric acid is used as a drying agent.
