A earns Rs. 600 more than B. They both save together Rs. 3,200 which is one-fourth of A's salary plus one-sixth of B's salary. Find out their total monthly expenditure.(in Rs)

Let earning of A be Rs x and of B be Rs y.

As per the given statements, " =>xy=600 --- (1)

And, x4+y6=3200=>3x+2y=38400 --- (2)

Multiplying equation (1) with 2 we get, 2x2y=1200 ----- equation (3)

Adding equations (2) and (3), we get 5x=39600=>x=7920

Substituting x=7920 in the equation (1), we get 7920y=600=>y=7320

Hence, expenditure of A is = Earning Saving =xx4=3x4=3×79204=Rs5940

And expenditure of B is = Earning Saving =yy6=5y6=5×73206=Rs6100
