Solution

(A) Relationship between sanitation and disease:

  1. Sanitation and disease are linked because poor sanitation causes illness while good sanitation practices prevent disease.
  2. A disease is a condition that causes the cells, tissues, and organs to stop functioning normally.
  3. Sanitation relates to public health issues including clean drinking water, sewage treatment, and so on.
  4. Sanitation includes all effective tools and practices that help in keeping the environment clean.
  5. Many common infections, such as roundworms, are spread through infected people's faeces.
  6. We can fully eliminate such infections, as well as more serious ones like E. Coli, by ensuring that people do not defecate in the open.

(B) Your role as an active citizen in sanitation:

  1. We should take care of our personal and environmental simulations as active citizens.
  2. We should educate others around us about the need for sanitation.
  3. We should help municipal corporations and gram panchayats in covering all open drains and removing unsanitary and disease-causing materials dumped in open drains.
