Solution

(a) Even though a plane mirror and a sheet of paper reflect light, we can see our image only in a mirror because regular reflection takes place in a mirror, while diffused reflection takes place from a sheet of paper.

(b) The image formed by a plane mirror is always virtual. This means that the light rays do not actually meet to form the image, rather they appear to be coming from a point. That's why the image can't be obtained on a screen. The image is also "laterally inverted" which means the apparent reversal of the mirror image's left and right when compared with the object.

(c) The capital alphabets which look the same in a plane mirror are:

  • A
  • H
  • I
  • M
  • O
  • T
  • U
  • V
  • W
  • X
  • Y
