The correct option is A $6$
Total number of tomato plants $= 42$
Number of plants in each row $= 8$
Number of rows required $= \frac{total number of tomato plants}{number of plants in each row}$

$= 42 \div 8$
Solving by long division method:

Quotient = 5
Remainder = 2
5 rows are completely filled with plants. 2 tomato plants need to filled in a partially filled row.
So farmer needs to fill in $5 + 1 = 6$ rows.
