A father wants to divide ₹ 1800 among his sons in the ratio of their ages. If one of his son is 12 years old while the other is 15 years old, then their respective shares would be ____ and ____.
₹ 800 and ₹ 1000
The ratio of their age is 12:15
= 4:5.
So, the money has to be divided in this ratio.
∴ Let the shares be 4x and 5x respectively.
Now, 4x + 5x = 9x,
⇒ 9x = 1800
⇒ x = 200
Hence the share will be 4 (200) = ₹ 800
And the hence the other share = 5 (200) = ₹ 1000.
