A few drops of phenolphthalein indicator were added to an unknown solution P. it acquired pink colour now another unknown solution ultimately become colourless. predict the nature of solution P and Q

Dear Student,

When phenolphthalein reacts with acid, it gives colourless solution. But when it reacts with base, it gives pink coloured solution. Hence P must be basic in nature and Q must be acidic in nature.
