Given, length (l) = 90 m
breadth (b) = 40 m

Area of a rectangle of length 'l' units and breadth 'b' units is l×b.
Area of the rectangular plot = 90×40 = 3600 m2
According to the question, area of the square plot is same as that of the rectangular plot.
Area of the square plot = 3600 m2
The area of a square with side length 'a' = a2
Therefore, length of the side of the square
= a2=3600=36×100 = 6×10 = 60 m.
