A figure, on a grid paper of grids 1 sq mm each, occupies 60 complete grids, 20 exactly half grids and 60 more than half grids. What is the total space occupied by the figure?
Given,
Each grid occupies =1 sq mm
Number of complete grids occupied =60
Area occupied by these grids =60×1 sq.mm
Number of more than half grids occupied = 60
Area occupied by these grids =60×1 sq.mm [When grid is covered more than half, we consider its full area]
Number of exactly half grids occupied =20
Area occupied by these grids =20×12 sq.mm
Therefore, total space occupied by the figure
=60×1+60×1+20×12
=60+60+10
=130 sq.mm
