Solution

A firm Manufacturing Spices adulterate spices and sell at low price to various restaurants, hotels and shops. The values being violated are :-

1. Harming the health of people who consume dishes made with those spices.The health of the people might be affected adversely by the intake of adulterated spices.An adulterant is a chemical substance which should not be contained within other substances (e.g. food, beverages, and fuels) for legal or other reasons.

2. Violation of anti-adulteration law-The Government of India, therefore, enacted a Central Legislation called the Prevention of Food adulteration Act (PFA) in the year 1954 which came into effect from 15 June, 1955. The Act repealed all laws, existing at that time in States concerning food adulteration. In this Act unless the context otherwise requires -
“adulterant” means any material which is or could be employed for the purpose of adulteration;

“adulterated”—an article of food shall be deemed to be adulterated.

It has several criteria to be fulfilled for different food items including spices and those criteria have been violated.

3. Providing false information to buyer- The buyer is unaware about the nature, substance or quality of the product. The information on the packaging is not correct and this a punishable offence.
