A fixed cylindrical tank having large cross-section area is filled with two liquids of densities ρ and 2ρ and in equal volumes as shown in the figure. A small hole of area of cross section a=6cm2 is made at height h'(h' < h) from the bottom.

Applying the Bernoulli's equation for the given setup:

P0+12×2×ρv2=P0+2ρg+h2+ρgh

So, velocity of efflux comes out to be v=2gh

Now, for the distance covered in vertical direction:
12gt2=h2

So, t=hg

So, the ranfe of the efflux will be:
R=v×t

R=2h
