A flask of capacity 1 L contains NH3 at 1 atm and 25∘C. A spark is passed through until all the NH3 is decomposed to N2 and H2. Calculate the pressure (in atm) of gases left at 25∘C after the reaction.

Solution
2NH3→N2+3H2 No. of moles after reaction (n2)=2× no. of moles before reaction (n1) at same T and V,P∝n ∴P1P2=n1n2 ∴1P2 = 12 Hence pressure after reaction = 2 atm
