A flask of volume 1 litre contains vapour of CH3OH at a pressure of 1 atm and 25oC. The flask was then evacuated till the final pressure dropped to 104 mm. Find the number of molecules of methyl alcohol left in the flask.

V=1 lit,P=1 atm & T=25oC=298 K

Pf=104 mm=104760atm=1.316×107 atm

PV=nRT

n=PVRT=1.316×107×10.0821×298=5.38×109

No. of molecules =n.NA=5.38×109×6.023×1023=3.24×1015
