Solution

a) The IUPAC name of the complex [Co(NH3)5Br]SO4 is pentammine bromo cobalt (III) sulphate. Its ionisation isomer is [Co(NH3)5SO4]Br.
b) Axial set of dorbitals (dx2y2 and dz2) of metal ion/atom experience more repulsion in octahedral field created by the ligand. These orbitals are face to face to loigands which are situated at the vertices.
