A force $F$ acts on a body and displaces it by a distance $S$ in a direction at an angle $θ$ with the direction of force. What should be the angle between the force and displacement to get maximum work?

Solution

As energy is given by formula $F S cos θ$ and we know cos has maximum value at an angle of $0^{o}$ that is $c o s 0 = 1$ .
Hence energy becomes maximum when angle is $0^{o}$ .
