Force

  1. Any push or pull imparted to the body is considered a force. Force is defined mathematically as the product of mass and acceleration. The motion of an object is caused by force.
  2. The force is applied in the direction in which we want the body to travel, but if the opposing force is applied, it acts as a resistance to the body's motion.
  3. A change in the location of an item with regard to time is referred to as motion. It is possible for the motion to be uniform or non-uniform.

Uniform motion

  1. A uniform motion is one in which the body covers the same distance in the same amount of time.
  2. When an automobile travels at 5 km/h for the first 5 minutes and then returns to 5 km/h for the next 5 minutes, and so on, this is referred to as uniform motion.

Non-uniform motion

  1. The situation of the body in which it covers unequal distances in equal intervals of time is known as non-uniform motion.
  2. When an automobile travels at 5 km/h for the first 5 minutes and then at 7 km/h for the next 5 minutes, and so on, this type of motion is referred to as non-uniform motion.
  3. A body must have an identical amount of force at each interval of time in order to move in a regular manner. The force may be applied in the same direction as the motion or in the opposite direction.

Hence, to keep a body in uniform motion,

  1. A constant supply of force is required because when a constant force is delivered to a body, the acceleration remains constant and the body continues in uniform motion.
  2. However, if the force is removed, the velocity diminishes and the body eventually comes to a stop.
