Question

A force of 20 N acts upon a body whose weight is 9.8 N. What is the mass of the body and how much is its acceleration ? (g=9.8ms2)

Open in App
Solution

Given :

Weight of the body w = 9.8 N

mass of the body m = ?

gravity acceleration g = 9.8 m/sec^2

Force act on it F = 20 N

then mass of the body can be calculated as

W = mg

m = W/g

m = 9.8/9.8= 1kg

then acceleration F = ma

20 = 1 × a

a = 20 m/s2
