Question

A force of 20 N acts upon a body whose weight is 9.8 N. What is the mass of the body and how much is its acceleration? (g = 9.8 m/s−2)

Open in App
Solution

W (weight of the body) = 9.8N
m (mass of the body) = ?
g (acceleration due to gravity) = 9.8 m/s2
W= mg
9.8 = m × 9.8
9.8 /9.8 = m
1 = m
Answer: Mass = 1kg

F (force) = 20N
M (mass of body) = 1kg
F = m × a
20 = 1 × a
20/1 = a
a = 20m/s2
Answer: Acceleration = 20m/s2
