A force of 250 N is applied to the smaller piston of hydraulic machine. Neglecting friction, find the force exerted on the large piston, if the area of the pistons is 5 m2 and 25 m2 respectively.
1250 N
Given, the force on small piston F1=250 N, Area of small piston A1=5 m2 and Area of large piston A2=25 m2. Let the force exerted on the large piston be F2.
According to Pascal law,
F1A1=F2A2
On substituting values, 2505=F225.
We get F2=1250 N. Therefore, the force exerted on the large piston is 1250 N.
