A Force of 50N produces a moment of force of 10 N-m in a rigid body. calculate the perpendicular distance between the point of application of force and the turning point

Open in App
Solution

Definition:

Moment of force: The Moment of a force is a measure of its tendency to cause a body to rotate about a specific point or axis

Moment of force = force(F) X Perpendicular distance

Solution:

Given,

Force(F) = 50N

Moment of force = 10 N-m

Moment of force= force X Perpendicular distance

10 N-m =50 N X Perpendicular distance

Perpendicular distance = 0.2 m

Conclusion:

therefore the perpendicular distance between the point of application of force and the turning point is equal to 0.2 m
