From the law of conservation of momentum,
8×2=4V1+4V2
V1+V2=4
From the law of conservation of energy, taking into account the 16 J energy released into the system,
16+12×8×4=12×4×V21+12×4×V22
V21+V22=16
On solving,
V1=0,V2=4
