Question

A frequency distribution table which gives the weights of 38 students of a class is given. Convert it into a continuous grouped frequency.

Open in App
Solution

First step to convert a non-continuous data into a continuous is to calculate the adjustment factor.
Adjustment factor :

Add 0.5 to the upper limit and subtract 0.5 from lower limit of the class interval.

Let's take the class ‘31-35’

New class interval is:
Upper limit + 0.5 = 35 + 0.5 = 35.5
Lower limit - 0.5 = 31 - 0.5 = 30.5

Please note, 30.5 is included in the class interval 30.5 - 35.5 and 35.5 is included in the class interval 35.5 - 40.5.

The same goes for all the other intervals as well.
