A garden is $90m$ long and $75m$ broad. A path $5m$ wide is to be built all around (including border). Find the area of the path. Also find the area of the garden in hectare.

Given,

Garden $90m$ long, $75m$ broad

$5m$wide is to be built outside around it

length $\left(l\right)=90m$

breadth $\left(b\right)=75m$

Area of garden $=l\times b$

$=90\times 75$

$=6750m^2$

From diagram by adding the new length to the extending it has Changed as, $l=90m+10m=100m,b=75m+10m=85m$

New Area $=l\times b=100\times 85=8500m^2$

Area of extended path $=$ New Area- Old Area

$8500-6750=1750m^2$

As per question we want area in hectares of garden

So I hectare $=10000m^2$

$\therefore$ Area of garden $=\frac{6750}{10000}=0.675$ hectares

& Area of path $=1750m^2$
