A gas exerts pressure on the walls of the container. Identify the correct reason for the same.
Gaseous particles move randomly and frequently collide with walls. Pressure is resultant of these collisions.
The particles of a gas are moving around constantly in random directions and frequently collide with the walls of the container or each other. When a molecule collides with the wall, they exert a small force on the wall. The pressure exerted by the gas is due to the sum of these collision forces.
More the particles hitting the wall, greater the pressure.
