Question

A gas fills completely the vessel in which it is kept. Give reason.

Solution

→ Gases have higher intermolecular space and hence are loosely bound.

→ The particles of a gas are constantly moving in all directions at different speeds and apply pressure on the wall of the vessel in which they are kept.

→ Therefore, they do not have a fixed volume and completely fill the vessel in which they are kept.
