Question

A gas has neither a definite volume nor a definite shape. Describe the molecular model to explain it.

Open in App
Solution

Molecules of gas are far apart from each other i.e., have the greatest intermolecular distance which results in the weakest intermolecular forces of attraction. Due to the negligible intermolecular force of attraction, molecules move freely and randomly in the entire space available to them. Thus, gases do not have a definite volume or shape.
