Methane along with a little amount of Carbon dioxide (CO2), Hydrogen disulfide (H2S) and Phosphine (PH3) are produced in the form of bubbles in marshy lands by the anaerobic bacteria (absence of oxygen) during the digestion of organic matter that is present on the land.
