Solution

The correct option is B SO2
When sulphur dioxide gas is passed into acidified dichromate solution, sulphur dioxide is oxidized to sulphuric acid.

Potassium dichromate is reduced to chromic sulphate. The orange solution becomes green.
K2Cr2O7+3SO2+H2SO4K2SO4+Cr2(SO4)3+H2O

Hence, option C is the correct answer. The gas is sulphur dioxide.
