Given,
Mass of the girl, mg=35 kg
Mass of the trolley, mt=5 kg
Iniial velociy, u=4 ms1
Final velocity, v=0
Displacement, s=16 m
Total mass, m=mg+mt
m=35+5=40 kg

Using Newton's second equation of motion,
s=ut+12u2

a=v2u22s

a=02422×16

a=0.5 ms2

Force, F=ma
F=40×(0.5)
F=20 N
Magnitude of force, F=20 N

Work done on the trolley, W=(20×16) J
W=320 J
