    3. Ammonium nitrate is used as an explosive.
    4. Ammonium carbonate is used a lab reagent.
  2. Test to identify ammonia and ammonium ions in an aqueous solution:
    1. Addition of zinc chloride to the solution leads to the formation of white gelatinous zinc hydroxide precipitate.
    2. Addition of lead nitrate solution to the solution containing ammonium ions leads to the formation of a white insoluble precipitate of lead hydroxide.
