Solution

The correct option is B Thyroid gland
Thyroid gland is not associated with the alimentary canal. This gland is present in the neck region and it produces thyroxine hormone that regulates the BMR (basal metabolic rate).

Pancreas is located posteriorly to the stomach in the abdominal cavity, it is associated with the secretion of alkaline pancreatic juices which are essential in the digestion of starch, proteins, fats and nucleic acids. Pancreas also produces hormones like glucagon and insulin which are involved in glucose metabolism.

Liver is the largest gland of the body lying in the upper right side of the abdominal cavity just below the diaphragm. It is mainly involved in the production of bile which helps in the emulsification of fats.

Salivary glands are situated just outside the buccal cavity. They discharge their secretions (salivary juices) in the oral cavity, which helps in the mastication of food and partial digestion of carbohydrates.
