If any two substances in this list are rubbed against one another, the one higher in the order gets positively charged, and the one with low frictional order will get a negative charge.
Glass when rubbed with silk, acquires a positive charge because glass has higher frictional order than silk.
When two bodies are rubbed against each other the transfer of electrons takes place from one body to another which leads to the charging of the body.
When a glass rod is rubbed with silk, then due to high frictional order electrons from the glass rod will move to silk. So the deficiency of electrons will create a positive charge in a glass rod.
And excess electrons in silk will lead to a negative charge in silk.
