The correct option is A 1
Area of the garden = 4 x 4 = 16 sq. m​
Area of the pathway = 20 sq. m​
Area of the ground including the garden and pathway = 20 + 16 = 36 sq. m​

As the garden is a square, and the pathway has uniform width, so the ground will also be a square.​

Area of ground = Side of ground x Side of ground​
36 = Side of ground x Side of ground​
Side of ground = 6 m​

Width of the pathway + 4 + Width of the pathway = 6​
Width of the pathway x 2 = 6 - 4​
Width of the pathway = 2 ÷ 2 = 1 m.​
