A hall 20 m long & 15 m broad is surrounded by a verndah of uniform width of 2.5 m. The cost of flooring the verandah at 17.50 per sq metre is?

Length of the hall = 20m
breadth of the hall = 15m
Area of the rectanguar hall = length x breadth = 20 x 15 = 300 m²

Width of the varandah = 2.5m
This width is on both sides of the length and breadth of the hall

So, Length of the hall including varandah = 20+(2.5+2.5) = 25m
breadth of the hall including varandah = 15+(2.5+2.5) = 20m
Hence Area of the hall including varandah = length x breadth = 25 x 20 = 500m²

Therefore, area of the varandah = (Area of the hall including varadah) - ( area of the hall)
= 500- 300 = 200m²

cost of flooring the verandah = 17.50/ m²
So, cost of flooring 200m² veranda = 200 x 17.50 = Rs.3500 Ans.
