l=8mb=8m60cm=8+60100=8+0.6=8.6m1cm=1100m

Step 2: Find the area of the carpet needed to cover the floor.

The floor of the hall is in the form of a rectangle.

Therefore, area of the carpet required to cover the floor =l×b

=8×8.6=68.8m2

Hence, the carpet needed to cover the floor of the hall is equal to 68.8m2
