Question

A high inductive load is fed by a dc-dc converter as shown below. If the duty ratio of converter is 4/5, then value of peak forward blocking voltage (Vpeak) across the switch will be

Open in App
Solution

For given converter:

When switch 'S' is off and diode 'D' is in on state, voltage across switch is Vpeak
Applying KVL in input loop,

200V05+Vpeak=0

Vpeak=V05+200

For flyback dc-dc converter

V0=N2N1(α1α)Vs

=5⎜ ⎜ ⎜4/5145⎟ ⎟ ⎟×200=5×45×51×200

=20×200=4000V

Vpeak=40005+200=800+200=1000V
