A hollow cylindrical copper pipe is 21 dm long. If its outer and inner diameters are of 10 cm and 6 cm respectively, find the volume of the copper used in making the pipe. [Take π=227] [3 MARKS]

Let R and r respectively be the external and internal radii of the given hollow cylindrical copper pipe.

Then, we have
R=12×10 cm=5 cm and r=12×6 cm=3 cm
The length (i.e. height) of the pipe (h) = 21 dm
= 210 cm
Volume of the copper used in making the pipe
=πh(R2r2)
=22/7×/21030×(5232) cm3
=660(259) cm3=660×16 cm3
=10560 cm3
Hence, the volume of the copper used in making the pipe is 10560 cm3
