Solution

The correct option is A east

A horizontal metal wire is carrying an electric current from the north to the south. Using a uniform magnetic field, it is to be prevented from falling under gravity. The direction of this magnetic field should be towards the east.
A current carrying wire produces magnetic field around it which can be easily known from right hand thumb rule ,where thumb points the direction of current and your curl fingers points the direction of current .when current is flowing from West to East thumb points towards right and he curl fingers gives u the direction of feild produced by it ,therefore the magnetic field is cylindrical in direction around it going upwards towards the north side and downward towards the south side of other end .
